Review: Lumiere Pressed Blush in Berrilicious

Photo from Lumiere

Much as I love the NARS Orgasm blush my boyfriend gave me for Christmas, I find the color a little too natural and pale for evening wear. So when I chanced upon a Lumiere mineral makeup sale from Multiply seller Get Tickled Pink, I thought I’d give the pressed blush a try. It’s mineral makeup in pressed powder form! How awesome is that? Of all the available colors, the medium-berry shade Berrilicious looked the most “night-time”. I couldn’t wait to get my blush in the mail and start swiping it onto my cheeks.

DO LIKE:

* Very pigmented. The container is deceptively tiny but I soon discovered that the small size doesn’t matter. A quick swipe of my blush brush is all I need to achieve a healthy glow on my cheeks. Amount-wise, this blush will last about a year even with daily use.
* Easy to bring. The blush won’t take up much space even in the tiniest of kikay kits. And since it’s a pressed powder, retouching on the go is no hassle!

DO NOT LIKE:

* Poor staying power. My oily cheeks don’t hold blush pigments too well, but the staying power of the Lumiere pressed blush is just plain ridiculous. It fades to absolute nothingness in an hour’s time. Although its compact size makes it easy to bring to the ladies’ room for a quick retouch, I never have time to do any more than blot my face when I’m out.
* Price. I think I paid around P450 for this but its mediocre staying power makes me feel like I wasted my money. Maybe I should have just shelled out a little more for a NARS blush.

CONCLUSION:

I really wanted to like the Lumiere pressed blush, but this is easily the most disappointing makeup purchase I’ve made all year. I’m not a very picky person when it comes to blush; all I ask is that it stay on my cheeks for a couple of hours. But the Lumiere pressed blush seriously fails. While I can’t expect mineral blush to be as long-lasting as NARS blushes, I’ve tried blush samples from other MMU brands (Ellana and Milea) and they didn’t fade completely an hour after application. Bottom line: don’t waste your money trying this one out.

Do you use mineral blush? Any brands you’d like to recommend?

sometimes with Mineral blushes you have to use a cream blush as base to help it stay longer

Ooh, that sounds like a good idea. But meh, too much trouble for a blush.

I swear by Mineraux blush. I’m not a huge MMU-fan, but this one made me convert :D The blush of Maybelline’s not that bad, but just too goody-two-shoes pink for me.

I highly recommend the Etude House blushes. It’s got incredible staying power, comes in a tiny rectangle case, and was less than 500! It’s not MMU, but it’s definitely cheaper than NARS. :)
