Outfit: Baby Love

To say that I have an awesome group of girlfriends is an understatement. My friends (who I fondly call the “Hohobags”) are the sweetest, smartest, most wonderful people I know and I can prove it. Last Sunday, we threw a surprise baby shower for our friend Tish who was to get married the weekend after, and we did it despite our serious lack of domestic and party-planning skills. It wasn’t any ordinary shower either. Instead of playing lame baby shower games, we all indulged in a spa party, courtesy of Nikki. She told us to come in foot spa-friendly clothes, so this is what I wore!

Top: bought somewhere in Singapore
Shorts: Mango
Wedges: special order from Shoe Etiquette

Forgive the sleepy face, I had just woken up and showered shortly before this photo was taken! I bought the tops at one of the stores in Singapore’s Haji Lane and it stayed buried in my closet all this time. Trying to find it reminded me that my closet needs another round of decluttering sometime soon. I thought I had that problem fixed when I got rid of my clothes at a garage sale but I guess I didn’t do as good a job at closet clearing as I thought I did. :\

My gift to the mama-to-be is a nursing cover from my blog’s latest sponsor, Caleb’s Closet Ecostore. It might seem a little random for a baby store to advertise on my website, but I couldn’t say no after talking to the owner Lei, a doctor turned stay-at-home and a huge advocate of breastfeeding and natural parenting. I’m not going to have kids anytime soon but if/when I do, I’ll probably be a hippy-dippy parent who breastfeeds and uses cloth diapers. Caleb’s Closet is filled with all sorts of affordable items to make natural parenting more convenient for parents, and a great source of baby shower gifts. Take for instance the nursing cover, one of their best-selling items. Tish was really thrilled to receive it, because it means she can breastfeed around people without the awkwardness that comes with whipping one’s breasts out in public!

This was my first baby shower ever and I’m glad it turned out to be a very relaxing afternoon of pampering. I hope that by the time I’m ready to have kids a decade from now, my friends will still greet my pregnancy with the same excitement as the first Hohobag baby!

Cool top! It’s a good thing you were able to unearth it from your closet :)) My friends and I are planning a spa party too! Kudos for prepping the house and all! Think we might have it in an actual spa though. We’re lazy like that.

my daughter-in-law is going to have a girl the end of dec. i like the decor. u have around. i was wanting to do something different but don’t know what. i never thought about a nursing cover. likrd it”

The decor was really easy to do! It’s just cut-up crepe paper we hung around the chandeliers and soda bottles covered with tulle and more crepe. You should definitely give her a nursing cover to help her breast feed, I think she’ll appreciate it. Good luck! :)
