As you can tell from the dearth of new posts, I haven’t really been in the mood to blog lately. Sometimes I just want to get away from the shallow commercialism of it all, and on those days it makes me wonder why I bother keeping this blog in the first place. And then I get wind of something fresh and exciting, like the launch of OS Accessories‘ new collection of badass bone accessories, and I remember that blogging can be a great platform for promoting local talent.

Not that OS Accessories needs any more word-of-mouth love from the local blogosphere. Every fashion blogger (and fashion blogger follower) has nothing but nice things to say about their accessories, not to mention that co-founder Paul Jatayna is a Lookbook celebrity who looks unquestionably fierce when he wears his own designs. But I’d like to stress that OS Accessories isn’t one of those cool fad brands you should support just because the It girls are wearing them. Paul and AJ work really hard on each collection, and every piece they produce is a work of art and love.
I wanted to see the new collection in person, so I went to Cubao X for the first time in ages. This is what I wore:

Ukay Shopping Isn’t Worth It Anymore
There was once a time when I thought I’d never buy clothes outside of an ukay-ukay (thrift store). Cheap clothes and designs that you’ll never find in a mall? Why would I shop anywhere else? But that was four years ago, and a lot of things have changed since then. This year, I’ve only been to an ukay three times, and during each visit I did not feel the same thrill and excitement as I used to. My article at the Philippine Star’s Unblogged explains why I feel this way, and why I think ukay shopping isn’t worth it anymore. Can you tell that I feel so disillusioned and bored by the local shopping scene these days?
Do you feel the same way about ukay shopping or is it still a great place to find bargains and interesting clothes?
