FOTD: Pink and Gray on Valentine’s Day

fotd valentines day

I’m not a big Valentine’s Day person, mostly because I’m used to not celebrating it. The last boyfriend thought Valentine’s Day was a silly non-holiday, and I had no one to spend the fourteenth with before him. Then I met Marco early 2009 and started dating him not long after. One of our most memorable dates happened on Valentine’s Day last year – we started the evening playing Left for Dead because we wanted to “hang out” on Valentine’s Day without being cheesy or romantic. But as the night went on, the cheesy and romantic part became inevitable. :P I still don’t believe in doing anything too special for Valentine’s Day, especially with our anniversary only two weeks away, but it’s nice to go out and reenact the events that took place exactly one year ago.

For Valentine’s Day I came up with a pink and gray look with my Alice in Wonderland Book of Shadows. Pink and gray is one of my favorite color combinations, and I used Curiouser, Queen, Mushroom, and Jabberwocky to achieve this look. On my lips is my current favorite lipstick, Nyx Round Lipstick in Perfect.

Bought my hat at a Rockwell bazaar for only P100. Yes, a single 100 peso bill can actually get you something there, if you know where to look!

valentines dinner date

With my pogi boyfriend at Bistro Miyake, Greenhills. We’re definitely coming back here again – the prices are cheap (roughly P150-200 a dish), the servings are HUGE, and the food tastes excellent. I ordered miso ramen for about P170, and the bowl ended up being almost as big as my face! The last time I had a bowl of ramen that big, it cost about P300. Rawr now I want ramen.

hello, Lauren. so, I love your make-up yayy!

I have been reading and rereading your blog for inspiration on how to wear make-up. haha, cause I dont know how to and I am supposed to-for work. :) so anyway, more of articles like this because it is made of yay! :)

i like your make-up. yours is one of the blogs that makes me want to make-up more, so very very pretty. hehe

Awww thanks Kath! You should check out YouTube tutorials too, I pretty much just learned by watching them. :)

what would you suggest are the first few colors I should get as eyeshadow? i mean what colors would be “fail-proof”?

        • Lauren says:

Neutrals! Specifically browns, coppers, golds, and blacks. You can’t go wrong with neutrals. Then from there, branch out to more colorful shadows like blues, greens, and purples. :) My first ever makeup palette was the Dollface 15-pc neutral set. The shadows are very silky and pigmented, they last long, and they’re cheap at P650 (compared to P400-500 you’d pay for a 3-pc department store palette). It’s here if you want to take a look. http://swtangel.multiply.com/photos/album/94#photo=43 Liz has a review on her blog too! :)

    • Marco says:

Hi, boyfriend here. Lauren’s really, really cute herself. You’re not really doing a good job hiding your jealousy.

Laur, your makeup skills are getting better and better. Betcha gonna be the makeup artist in the group :D

    P.S.

You look HOT btw. post a pic of the total outfit :)

    • Lauren says:

Aww thanks! Between the two of us, I still think you’re the better makeup artist. I only know how to do makeup on myself, and I wouldn’t know the first thing about applying makeup on other people! My clothes are now in the wash but I’ll probably wear it again soon. The top is super soft and comfy.
