FOTD: How to Do Makeup for Glasses
I’m too vain to go out without contact lenses, but I wore my glasses out twice last week for two reasons. The first is that my outfits looked more complete with them; the second is that I put on too much makeup and had no time to erase and redo. My glasses did a great job of restoring balance to my face, and it was through this that I learned how to put on makeup for glasses. This entry isn’t so much an FOTD as a short pseudo-tutorial on how I put on my glasses face.

Glasses with large frames will overwhelm your eyes, so make sure your peepers pop out with heavy eye makeup.

For this look, I used my Urban Decay Eyeshadow Ammo’s Smog and Oil Slick, but you can use any two-color combination of neutrals. Don’t bother with colorful eyeshadow because no one is going to see them from behind your lenses. Apply the lighter color all over the lid, then apply the darker color on the outer lid. Blend and smoke out the colors using a crease brush, taking care to accentuate your outer V. Then apply eyeliner, wear brown lipstick (Nyx Perfect), and you’re good to go. (Actually, this one is the before photo, taken shortly after I did my eyes. I hadn’t put on any lipstick yet!)

For my small, everyday black-rimmed glasses, I do a more simple look. I line my eyes with black eyeliner (MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack) and use a loud red lipstick (MAC Diva) for balance. I suppose any vivid lipstick color can do, but I love how red lips and black-rimmed glasses look together. I chose to wear my glasses that night because I put on a little too much blush, which together with the red lipstick, gave me a rather tarty appearance. Besides, my destination was Geek Fight, and I didn’t want to look like some bimbo who got lost on her way to the makeup counter. I will not be judged by nerds and hipsters!!!

So yay, there you have it! I hope you can find this useful when you run out of contact lens fluid and have no choice but to go out with your glasses on. Have a great weekend!

I have yet to find contact lenses that my eyes can tolerate for two consecutive days :(
My everyday pair is similar to your black rimmed one so I’m definitely taking notes on your red and black look :)

Hi! May I know where you bought your large-frame glasses? I’ve been wanting to buy one but can’t seem to find any!

I got them at The Ramp, Glorietta. They were actually shades, but I had the lenses removed and replaced with my prescription lenses. Just look for a pair of light shades with really narrow frames. :)

I actually like the look of glasses, I think they add character to a face. It’s true, though, when you wear a pair, they tend to overwhelm your eyes, so eye make-up should be able to peek through the lens!
Also, I never knew you could do that–shopping for a different frame and having the lenses replaced. I’m beginning to hate my computer glasses already, I want something with larger frames because the thick black ones are distracting. =\
