All Glammed Up at the Glambox Airbrush Beauty Event

I don’t have a lot of girlfriends and I rarely get to talk to them about makeup, so I jumped at the chance to hang out with beauty bloggers at the Glambox beauty event. This intimate gathering felt just like a regular Saturday afternoon coffee with friends, except we could prettify ourselves and each other with the Glambox Airbrush kits. I had no idea what airbrush makeup is for or what it can do, but I had the impression that only beauty professionals might be able to appreciate this technology. Little did I know that I’d be changing my mind about it by the end of the day!

glambox demo

After we sipped our coffee and nibbled on Diamond Hotel’s bestselling ensaymada, Val of Glambox Cosmetics did a quick demo to show what airbrush makeup can do and how the whole thing works. The pink and black box she’s holding is the compressor, the device that controls the air pressure. For a device with such an intimidating name, the compressor is surprisingly light, portable, and easy to use! You attach an airbrush gun to the compressor using a hollow rubber tube and place several drops of foundation or blush inside the tiny funnel on the gun. What’s great about the Glambox compressor is that we don’t have to worry our pretty little heads over the right PSI for applying foundation, blush, etc. Simply choose from Light, Medium, or Heavy, then spray away!

I think airbrush makeup would be perfect if it allowed you to use any liquid foundation on it but unfortunately, regular foundation will only clog up the airbrush gun. Glambox Cosmetics has four different shades of silicone-based airbrush foundation (I was only able to swatch three) for about P890 a pop (30ml). The good news is that they’ll be releasing more shades in the future! For now, you can buy two different shades and mix and match to come up with one that will match your skin tone perfectly.

Valerie’s tutorial didn’t last very long because she wanted us to try the Glambox kits for ourselves. I’m pretty wary around new technology so I let the makeup experts do their thing while I watched.

jane before

The girls decided to use Jane as their test subject because she had the least amount of makeup on. Jane is one of the most cheerful people I know; when we asked her to look sad for the “before” photo, she laughed even harder!

Sophie applied the foundation while Bambi added cheek color and did the eyes. They make it look so effortless! I eventually manged to get my hand on the airbrush gun and test it on myself, but I couldn’t do more than make blotchy circles at the back of my hand.

jane after

Once the girls were done with Jane, we all had to stop what we were doing and take “after” photos. Her skin looked so radiant and the makeup itself was completely flawless. Val said that airbrush makeup is great for mature skin because of the way it hides lines. Young skin can benefit from airbrush makeup too because it minimizes the appearance of pores.

hannah after

Hannah arrived a little later than the rest, but she was able to experience a quick airbrush makeover. Not that she needs it – she already has gorgeous skin and fine facial features to begin with!

At the end of the event, one Deluxe Kit and one Starter Kit were raffled off. Guess who won the Starter Kit?!

Looks like I’ll be able to learn how to do airbrush makeup properly after all. Thank you, Glambox!
